Classification of Transformer Stations

Depending on capacity and installation conditions, 22kV–35kV medium voltage transformer systems are classified into the following 6 main types:

Compact Substation (Kiosk Station)

A Kiosk station is a compact, integrated unit that synchronizes medium voltage switchgear (RMU), a transformer, and a low voltage panel (MSB) within a sealed, powder-coated steel enclosure. VIHOPHA designs, installs, and integrates these according to the specific technical configuration of each project.

Kiosk Compact Substation

Outdoor Pad-mounted Transformer Station

  • Suitable for projects with large load capacities.
  • Requires a spacious campus area.
  • Easy access for inspection, maintenance, and upgrades.
Outdoor Pad-mounted Station

Indoor Transformer Station (Oil-immersed Type)

A system utilizing oil-immersed transformers installed within dedicated technical rooms inside buildings or factories.

  • Safe installation within technical room spaces.
  • Requires strict oil collection pit designs and fire protection solutions.
  • Stable operation, unaffected by weather.
  • Minimized negative impact from the external environment.
Indoor Oil-immersed Station

Pole-mounted / H-Frame Transformer Station

The transformer is mounted on a sturdy steel frame or directly onto a centrifugal concrete pole system, optimized for residential areas or transmission infrastructure.
